Kasey Boggs and her husband, Blake, live in Missouri with their family—but this isn’t your everyday family. Kasey and Blake live with a pack of rescue animals. The pack consists of one cat named Mia, two white terriers named Roxy and Edith, two pit bulls named Rosie and Jake, and two ducks named Gertrude and Donald.

The family recently introduced their team to its newest member—their newborn son. The night after Sonny was born, Blake brought home one of his swaddle blankets from the hospital and let the dogs smell it. It wasn’t long before the whole family fell in love with their new baby brother.

When Kasey Boggs and her husband returned from the hospital with a newborn baby, the animals gave them a warm welcome. “When we brought Sonny home, I felt like they were expecting him,” Boggs explained.

“From the minute we have brought Sonny home, they have respected him and loved him as one of their own.” Each of the pets has a special relationship with their brother. The cat, Mia is always nearby and keeps guard. Roxy, their very first dog, love to nap with her brother. “I think Sonny has impacted Roxy the most,” Boggs said. “She has experienced a lot of big milestones with me, right by my side. She knows how important this one is and really shows that.” The 2 other female dogs, Edith and Rosie, listen out for the babies cries and Jack, the only male dog, acts the dutiful big brother. “They understand how gentle they have to be and their affection is the epitome of what every child should grow up surrounded with,” Boggs said.
